The Arts House

This beginner friendly, single session, class will introduce you to the basics of sgraffito, a pottery decoration technique where carving away coloured clay leaves behind an amazing design!

This class will make six small tiles, wall hangings, or ornaments depending on your vision.

Our instructor will walk you through the steps of this hand-building a project! To assist you with creating your project you will be provided with texture tools for use and be shown how to use slips or underglaze and carving tools to create designs. Each project will be as unique as its creator. Your instructor will complete your creation with the glaze you choose after it has been fired the first time, after which it will be fired again. Your project is ready for pick up a few weeks later.

This lesson is suitable for adults of all skills levels. All materials and firings are included in the price.
